Role Overview
We are seeking a highly organised, proactive and capable Transport & Logistics Administrator to join our busy Transport and Despatch operation based at our Middlewich site. This is a fast-paced and varied role at the centre of CLD’s daily distribution operation. The successful candidate will provide essential administrative and planning support to the Transport, Warehouse and Despatch teams, helping to ensure customer orders are picked, loaded, dispatched and delivered safely, efficiently and On-Time and In-Full (OTIF).
The role requires someone who is comfortable managing multiple priorities at the same time, responding quickly to changing operational requirements and communicating confidently with drivers, customers, subcontract hauliers, warehouse colleagues and other departments across the business.
You will play a key role in coordinating daily deliveries, preparing driver and warehouse documentation, maintaining accurate transport and fleet records, and ensuring customers and sites are kept fully informed of planned delivery dates and times.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate daily transport schedules, warehouse pick lists and delivery documentation to ensure efficient dispatch.
- Plan and organise delivery routes, working closely with drivers, warehouse teams and third-party hauliers.
- Book customer deliveries and communicate delivery schedules, updates and any changes professionally.
- Monitor daily transport operations, resolving delivery issues and supporting drivers throughout the day.
- Raise and manage purchase orders for subcontracted transport providers and maintain accurate cost records.
- Ensure Proof of Delivery (POD) documentation is completed, tracked and filed accurately.
- Maintain fleet administration, including servicing, MOTs, inspections and maintenance records.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure orders are prepared, dispatched and delivered on time.
- Maintain accurate transport records, reports and compliance documentation using transport management systems.
- Identify opportunities to improve transport administration, processes and on-time delivery performance.
- Provide general administrative support to the Transport and Logistics team as required.
Skills & Experience Required
- Previous administration experience within a transport, logistics, warehousing, distribution or goods despatch environment is required.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a busy operational environment.
- High level of IT proficiency and confidence working with IMS, Transport Management Systems, driver management systems and route planning software.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Outlook, Excel and Word.
- Experience preparing transport documentation, delivery paperwork, driver run sheets or warehouse documentation is highly desirable.
- Good understanding of transport and distribution processes.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining accurate records.
Qualifications
- Essential: GCSEs or equivalent, including English and Mathematics, together with strong written, verbal and numerical skills.
- Desirable: Further education or professional qualifications in business administration, logistics, transport or supply chain operations, and previous experience within a manufacturing or construction-products distribution environment.
Working Hours and Location
The role is based full-time at CLD’s Middlewich site, working Monday to Friday, 08:00 to 16:30.
