An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Highly Specialist Paediatric Community Physiotherapist (Band 7) to join our Community Paediatric Physiotherapy Service in Brent, taking a lead role within our Community and Preschool service.
We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Physiotherapist with postgraduate paediatric experience and a passion for delivering high-quality, child-centred care.
Working within a supportive multidisciplinary team, you will provide specialist physiotherapy for children and young people aged 0–19 with a range of physical needs across community clinics, homes, nurseries and schools.
You will manage a complex SEND caseload, undertake specialist assessments and interventions, provide clinical leadership, support colleagues through supervision and training, and contribute to service development.
Working closely with Health, Education and Social Care colleagues, you will support coordinated care and key transitions, including into adult services.

Main duties of the job
As a Highly Specialist Paediatric Community Physiotherapist, you will:
- Provide specialist assessment, treatment and management for children and young people aged 0–19 with complex physical needs and SEND.
- Manage a community caseload across homes, nurseries, mainstream schools and community clinics, including preschool and orthotic clinics.
- Assess and recommend specialist equipment and mobility aids to support children’s changing needs.
- Work collaboratively with children, families and professionals across Health, Education and Social Care to deliver coordinated care and support transition into adult services.
- Provide clinical leadership, supporting the development of pathways, care packages and service improvements across Brent.
- Line manage, supervise and develop junior staff, assistants and physiotherapy students through appraisal, teaching and clinical supervision.
- Contribute to clinical audit, service transformation, training and evidence-based practice to improve outcomes for children and young people.

Education/Qualification
- Degree/ Diploma in Physiotherapy
- Valid Health and Care Professions Council Registration
- Member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy
- Member of the Association of Paediatric Chartered Physiotherapists
- Supervisory / leadership skills training
- Evidence of attendance at training in the area of assessment and treatment of children with additional needs
Experience
- Specialist knowledge and experience in paediatric physiotherapy including children with additional needs.
- Experience of delivering physiotherapy within a community setting, including clinic, patient’s homes, schools, nursery or children’s centres as appropriate
- Substantial experience as a Band 6 physiotherapist in Paediatrics
- Post graduate experience covering core rotations.
- Knowledge/ experience in the use of relevant assessment and treatment approaches, including the use of standardised assessments
- Evidence of effective multi-disciplinary and ,multi-agency work
- Experience in training/teaching healthcare professionals
- Experience in contributing to policy, procedures, guidelines and clinical standards development
- Evidence of the ability to supervise or manage Junior Staff/ Assistants/ students
- Experience in conducting audits and / or research.
- Experience in setting up new projects/ initiatives
- Knowledge of current policy and political drivers impacting on public health and the NHS.
Skills and Knowledge
- Ability to take a clinical leadership role in the community physiotherapy team.
- Advanced skills in the assessment and treatment of paediatric patients with a variety on conditions or complex needs.
- Sound knowledge of clinical practice and issues relating to the delivery of physiotherapy.
- Ability to problem solve, prioritise and demonstrate clinical reasoning
- Excellent IT skills – Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, clinical record keeping systems.
- Ability to work with paediatric patients from a diverse range of backgrounds 0-19years
- Knowledge and understanding of care pathways to facilitate appropriate referrals.
