CLC Utility Services Ltd are the leading Utility Services provider in the Southeast. Our work is mainly in the Water Industry, where we repair and maintain water assets and then backfill/reinstate the surfaces. Some of this work contains hazardous activities such as deep excavations and working on the Highways. We also support the Gas and Power Utilities when required. Most recently we have been awarded the Smart Metering contract for Essex and Suffolk.
We are looking to recruit a full time Safety Health Environmental and Quality Advisor. You’ll gain exposure to a wide range of projects as the post also has shared responsibilities across all contracts, as and when required. You’ll be part of a small, supportive SHEQ team, with room to take initiative and make your mark. The role is a good mix of site and office work and would suit someone who is diligent and committed to supporting the company on its continual improvement. This is a full time on site/on premise role, due to our location this is not commutable by public transport and due to the nature of the role there is not an option for part-time or hybrid.
Key responsibilities:
- Weekly HSE site inspections of our operatives/teams
- Monthly HSE Office/Yard inspections
- Weekly HSE Induction Training for new staff to the business (office and operative staff)
- Carrying out Emergency First Aid at Work & EUSR National Water Hygiene Training (when qualified/competent)
- Delivery of Toolbox Talks on various HSE subjects and management of responses
- Maintenance of the Training Matrix on our CRM system
- Outsourcing relevant training and booking refresher courses where relevant
- Attending client and internal SHEQ meetings
- Providing clear, reliable H&S advice across the business
- Supporting incident reporting and investigation processes
- Acting as lead during the SHEQ Manager’s absence
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- Holds a formal H&S qualification (NEBOSH, NVQ Level 3 or higher)
- Is confident speaking to groups and making safety training engaging
- Works well independently with attention to detail
- Learns quickly and gets stuck in without needing to be asked
- Wants to be part of a supportive, team-focused environment
- Extensive knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and best practices in utility environments
- Has a full UK driving licence and is able to commute to Brentwood, with occasional travel to other depots such as Hatfield
