A well-established and growing multi-office law firm in Liverpool is seeking an experienced Compliance Solicitor (COLP) to join its senior leadership team. This is a pivotal role within the business, offering the opportunity to shape and strengthen the firm’s regulatory framework while supporting continued growth.

The Role

  • As Compliance Officer for Legal Practice (COLP), you will take overall responsibility for the firm’s regulatory compliance and risk management function.
  • Working closely with the Board and senior management, you will ensure adherence to SRA regulations and promote a strong culture of compliance across all offices.
  • Key responsibilities include:
    • Acting as the firm’s designated COLP in accordance with SRA requirements
    • Monitoring and ensuring compliance with the SRA Standards and Regulations
    • Developing, implementing, and maintaining firm-wide compliance policies and procedures
    • Managing risk assessments and regulatory reporting obligations
    • Handling complaints, claims, and liaising with insurers where required
    • Delivering training to staff on compliance, risk, and regulatory updates
    • Advising partners and senior management on regulatory matters and best practice
    • Supporting audits and file reviews across multiple office locations

About You

  • Qualified Solicitor in England & Wales
  • Significant experience in legal compliance and regulatory matters
  • Previous experience as COLP (or ready to step into the role)
  • Strong working knowledge of SRA Standards and Regulations
  • Confident communicator with the ability to influence at Partner level
  • Highly organised with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Commercially aware with a pragmatic approach to risk
