A well-established and growing multi-office law firm in Liverpool is seeking an experienced Compliance Solicitor (COLP) to join its senior leadership team. This is a pivotal role within the business, offering the opportunity to shape and strengthen the firm’s regulatory framework while supporting continued growth.
The Role
- As Compliance Officer for Legal Practice (COLP), you will take overall responsibility for the firm’s regulatory compliance and risk management function.
- Working closely with the Board and senior management, you will ensure adherence to SRA regulations and promote a strong culture of compliance across all offices.
- Key responsibilities include:
- Acting as the firm’s designated COLP in accordance with SRA requirements
- Monitoring and ensuring compliance with the SRA Standards and Regulations
- Developing, implementing, and maintaining firm-wide compliance policies and procedures
- Managing risk assessments and regulatory reporting obligations
- Handling complaints, claims, and liaising with insurers where required
- Delivering training to staff on compliance, risk, and regulatory updates
- Advising partners and senior management on regulatory matters and best practice
- Supporting audits and file reviews across multiple office locations
About You
- Qualified Solicitor in England & Wales
- Significant experience in legal compliance and regulatory matters
- Previous experience as COLP (or ready to step into the role)
- Strong working knowledge of SRA Standards and Regulations
- Confident communicator with the ability to influence at Partner level
- Highly organised with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Commercially aware with a pragmatic approach to risk
