We are working with a highly respected legal firm based in London, known for its commitment to access to justice and excellence in legal aid work. Due to continued growth, they are now seeking an experienced Legal Aid Costs Draftsman to join their friendly and supportive team.
The Role:
As a Legal Aid Costs Draftsman, you will be responsible for preparing and submitting legal aid bills, including CCMS bills, High Costs Case Plans, and detailed assessments. You’ll be joining a team with a strong track record in civil, family, and housing law, where your expertise will be valued and your professional development supported.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drafting and submitting legal aid bills (including inter partes and legal aid-only matters)
- Preparing High Costs Case Plans and CCMS bills
- Negotiating costs with the Legal Aid Agency and opponents where necessary
- Managing your own caseload effectively while meeting deadlines
- Providing advice to solicitors on legal costs and funding matters
About You:
- Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Costs Draftsman, with a strong focus on legal aid work
- Proficient with CCMS and knowledge of LAA billing processes
