Job Description:

A highly regarded law firm is currently recruiting an experienced Family Law / Child Care Legal Secretary or Legal Assistant to join its established Child Care team based at its Manchester office. This is a full-time, permanent position offering a supportive working environment and a strong package of staff benefits.

The successful candidate will play a key part in supporting the Child Care department, ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of the team and maintaining high standards of client service.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing secretarial and administrative support to solicitors and fee earners within the Child Care team
  • Producing and formatting legal documents efficiently and accurately
  • Handling the preparation of legal forms and navigating court procedures
  • Managing correspondence with clients and third parties
  • Undertaking diary management and general administration duties
  • Working under pressure to meet tight deadlines
  • Using case management systems (e.g. Partner for Windows) and Microsoft Word for document preparation and editing
  • Proactively assisting with other departmental needs as required

The ideal candiate wil have:

  • Prior experience as a legal secretary or legal assistant in Child Care or Family Law is essential
  • Sound knowledge of child care proceedings and family law processes
  • High levels of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Strong IT skills and experience with legal software systems
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
