Paralegal / Police Station Representative
Opportunity to grow and progress toward qualification
Our client have been defending those accused of committing criminal offences for over years. As expert regulatory, fraud, and criminal defence lawyers, they have garnered a reputation as one of the UK’s leading criminal law firms. Based in Manchester but serving clients across the UK.
Thisteam possesses the expertise and knowledge to defend people facing charges across all aspects of criminal law. They provide comprehensive legal advice and guidance from initial arrest and investigation through to police station interviews and court proceedings, including Magistrates Court, Crown Court, and the Court of Appeal. Our lawyers are available /7, ensuring clients have access to support whenever needed.
About the Role:
- Act as a fully accredited Police Station Representative, providing -hour on-call support and attending police stations as required.
- Manage your own caseload, including preparation for Magistrates Court trials and progressing to Crown Court cases.
- Meet regularly with clients to provide legal advice, take instructions, and draft defence statements and basis of pleas.
- Prepare and submit a range of legal applications, including legal aid, bail applications, and prior authority for medical experts.
- Collaborate closely with barristers from various chambers to coordinate expert reports and trial preparations.
- Take ownership of administrative and reception duties as needed, supporting the wider legal team.
What We’re Looking For:
- Proven experience as a Police Station Representative or similar role, with a strong track record of managing cases independently.
- Confidence in client-facing roles and legal advice provision.
- Excellent drafting skills for applications and legal documentation.
- Strong organisational skills and ability to work under pressure, including on-call availability.
- A clear ambition to progress towards solicitor qualification.
