As the Financial Controller, you will help ensure the efficient operation of the hotel’s finance function. Reporting to the General Manager and other departments to achieve business objectives.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of monthly management accounts including Profit and Loss Account, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow.
  • Preparation of weekly financial reports, including forecasting of profits, cash and payroll.
  • Assistance in the preparation of books and files for audit and declaration of VAT and payroll taxes, including compliance with payment deadlines.
  • Identification of areas where value can be added, including revenue and cost opportunities.
  • Income Audit – Ensuring that all sales are recorded accurately and that income metrics are tracked and analysed to promote action.
  • Payroll - Highlighting/generating reports for individual departments within each property addressing problem areas.
  • Processing payroll and ensuring that rostering, timesheet input and payment via EFT are conducted in an effective and efficient manner.
  • Cash/Bank Control – Ensuring that all cash is managed and reconciled correctly and that there is a system in place for controlling the handling of cash throughout the property.
  • Accounts Receivable – Ensuring that the system of recording, invoicing and chasing of payments is done effectively and that each property’s debtor is tracked and monitored periodically.
  • Accounts Payable – Participate in creditor process to include monitoring of the PO system from sign-off to the matching of delivery dockets and invoices to sign off on creditor reconciliations at month end.

Requirements:

We are looking for an ambitious, confident, and professional individual with strong communication, organisational and analytical skills. The ideal candidate will demonstrate accounting experience, preferably in a hospitality, food & beverage environment or within the retail sector. The ideal candidate will be a qualified or part-qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or other equivalent qualification). Strong Internal Control Awareness and knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
