The Role: As a Maintenance Engineer at Clayton Glass, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our production plant and equipment. Your primary responsibility will be to maintain, repair, and improve equipment performance while adhering to safety protocols. Working both independently and as part of a team, you’ll support daily and weekly maintenance tasks and take a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintenance & Repair: Perform scheduled maintenance, repairs, and improvements on production equipment to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.
- Problem Solving: Use World Class Manufacturing (WCM) tools to identify root causes of failures and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Health & Safety: Strictly adhere to all health, safety, and environmental regulations, including performing 'OTJRA / Dynamic Risk Assessments' and participating in accident investigations.
- Operator Support: Assist operators with maintenance activities and support their understanding of machine functions to enhance overall efficiency.
- Process Improvement: Continuously seek ways to reduce breakdowns and improve processes through WCM methodologies such as 5S, AM/PM, and 5 Why analysis.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate daily records of maintenance activities and ensure compliance with reporting systems and CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems).
- Project Participation: Take an active role in site projects, contributing to the reduction of plant downtime and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
Completion of an electrical maintenance/engineering apprenticeship or equivalent qualification. +2 years of experience preferred in an industrial manufacturing environment. Strong knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanical fitting, ELV control circuits, PLC I/O logic, and basic plumbing. Ability to read and interpret Electrical/Mechanical/Hydraulic/Pneumatic drawings and fault-find effectively. 18th Edition electrical certification with a solid understanding of the Electricity at Work Regulations. Good literacy and IT skills, including proficiency in Excel, Word, and Outlook. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Full UK Driving Licence.
