Clayton Engineering Limited is a specialist engineering company based in Knighton, Powys. The company is owned by the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) for whom it manufactures lifeboat launch and recovery equipment.

The company has a 7 acre site based in Knighton in Mid Wales on the Powys / Shropshire / Herefordshire border. Easily commutable from Shrewsbury, Ludlow, Leominster or Hereford

Position Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Finance Manager to lead our Finance Function and support our Chief Executive Officer and the CEL Board. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining the financial health of our organisation.

Primary responsibilities will include providing comprehensive financial management, which encompasses budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis, preparation and delivery of detailed financial reports that inform strategic decision-making at all levels of the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide a full management accounting service for managers and for reporting to the CEL Board. This includes monthly reports; cash flow management; budgets and planning; data analysis and interpretation; contract accounting; and any other related financial reporting
  • Ensure financial controls and processes are efficient and effective and harmonise with those of the RNLI
  • Ensure financial controls and processes within the ERP environment are efficient and effective.
  • Generate reports, insights and improvement plans for the financial elements of the ERP system.
  • Provide a full set of statutory year end accounts for consolidation
  • Provide financial information and support for the consolidated year end accounts and auditors
  • Control of VAT, PAYE and Corporation Tax compliance requirements, and Payroll
  • Review auditor recommendations from audit report and manage the improvement process

  • Hands-on approach to producing robust and coherent management information on a regular basis.
  • Ability to analyse, interpret and communicate key information to senior managers for decision making purposes.
  • Ability to manage and motivate a small finance team.

Qualifications, Skills and Knowledge required

  • A bachelor\'s degree in finance, accounting or a related field is a minimum requirement.An MBA or professional credentials like ACCA or CIMA are also acceptable.
  • Preparation of statutory and management accounts, including variance analysis - essential
  • A good working knowledge of Payroll – essential

Experience

  • Strong background in management accounting – essential
  • Management and Leadership experience
  • Track record of involvement in the design and implementation of new systems, procedures and controls with the aim of improving business efficiency and profitability.
