We are looking for an enthusiastic and dependable Healthcare Assistant (HCA) to join our friendly team at Clayton Brook Surgery, working 24 hours per week (ideally Monday, Wednesday & Friday). In addition to this, the successful candidate will also provide 13.5 hours per week supporting our medical coordinator (Med Co) work, bringing the role to a full-time position. The successful candidate will occasionally be required to work at our partner practice, Moss Side Medical Centre in Leyland, and therefore mobility and flexibility across sites is essential.
The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting our clinical team to deliver high-quality, patient-centred care. You will assist with health checks, phlebotomy, ECGs, long-term condition monitoring, vaccination support, and health promotion activities. Experience working within General Practice is essential, and confidence using EMIS Web would be an advantage. This role offers the opportunity to contribute directly to improving patient outcomes, supporting our QOF and Long-Term Conditions (LTC) LES targets, and making a real difference within the local community.

Main duties of the job
- The Healthcare Assistant (HCA) will support the clinical team in delivering high-quality, patient-centred care across both sites.
- Duties include undertaking routine observations such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, height, weight, and BMI; performing phlebotomy and ECGs; conducting urinalysis; and assisting in long-term condition (LTC) reviews including frailty, respiratory, cardiovascular, diabetes, and hypertension.
- The post holder will record key QOF indicators such as smoking status, alcohol intake, BMI, and blood pressure, assist with flu and B12 injections, and carry out NHS Health Checks, frailty assessments, and lifestyle screening.
- They will also provide basic wound care (if trained), deliver health promotion advice, and encourage patients to engage in self-care and prevention.
- The HCA will ensure accurate clinical coding in EMIS Web, maintain infection control and CQC standards, and support QOF/LES achievement through accurate documentation.
- The role requires teamwork, flexibility, and commitment to continuous learning through meetings, audits, and mandatory training.

Job responsibilities

- Administering of: Influenza, Shingles, Pneumococcal, RSV and B12 injection under the supervision of the Practice Nurse in accordance with practice protocol and Patient Specific Directive
