Summary of Position

Our Events Manager will work across the Clays group, delivering client events from strategy and planning through to in‑venue execution. This role oversees the full lifecycle of client engagement – from initial calls and site visits to the seamless delivery of in‑venue and external company events. It will work across all Clays sites and report to the Group Events Manager. This role demands a sharp focus on operational excellence, creativity, and multitasking.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Event Strategy & Client Engagement: Lead the entire client journey, from initial inquiry calls and strategy sessions to site visits and seamless in‑venue execution.
  • Ambassador: Act as the face of the brand during networking, tastings, and external events, ensuring best‑in‑class hospitality at every touchpoint.
  • Account Excellence: Manage all client queries with a high standard response, and respond within 8‑12 hours, ensuring a premium and professional booking experience.
  • External Programming: Oversee the planning and delivery of on‑site and external company events, representing the brand with consistency outside of our physical venues.
  • Technical & Aesthetic Ownership: Responsible for the “look and feel” of events, including managing sound, lighting changes, and venue aesthetics to ensure every experience is on‑brand.
  • Communication: Prepare and distribute detailed function sheets, ensuring all relevant details are passed to management, front‑of‑house, and kitchen teams.
  • Information Flow: Master the flow of data through in‑house systems, ensuring accurate communication and swift escalation when necessary.
  • Culture of Improvement: Drive a “continuous improvement” mindset through regular team shadowing and the development of clear, scalable SOPs across the group.
  • Performance Tracking: Meet and exceed personal and company KPIs.
  • Analysis: Provide regular updates to the Associate Director of Experience on event performance, on‑the‑ground learnings, and upcoming quarterly landscapes.
  • Administrative Rigour: Maintain meticulous standards across all booking platforms and project management tools (Salesforce, Monday.com, etc.).
  • Operational Agility: Maintain a flexible approach to support the business, including leading high‑profile events after hours or over weekends when required.

Skills, Desired Qualifications & Attributes

  • At least 4 years of experience working in a similar role in events & hospitality management.

  • A track record showing strong initiative, creativity, and improved efficiency in a similar business, while keeping scalable growth in mind.
  • Possess a positive, polite, strategic, motivated and trustworthy outlook whilst at work, with honesty and strong moral principles.
  • A keen eye for detail with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Have the initiative to problem‑solve and propose creative and better ideas to be more efficient as we grow as a team and company.
  • Have great organisational skills with the ability to manage and prioritise your workload and different tasks.
  • Punctual and reliable with a flexible approach to work.
  • Adept in PowerPoint, Excel and Microsoft Word.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Salesforce, Sevenrooms, Tevalis, Monday.com & Canva is desired.
