We are looking for an efficient Skilled Maintenance Engineer to be responsible for all tasks involved in maintaining and repairing all Clays Ltd factory machinery as required or as directed by your shift supervisor.

Our Maintenance Engineers have a range of duties that include:

  • Assessing faulty machinery and diagnosing faults in a timely manner
  • Ensuring minimal downtime is experienced due to machine breakdowns
  • Completing both reactive and preventative maintenance on a wide range of binding and printing / print finishing equipment

Engineers are essential to guarantee the smooth running of binding and printing lines, and other critical equipment across the site, ensuring we can meet the operational needs of the business.

To be successful as a Skilled Maintenance Engineer you should be able to carry out all tasks with high attention to detail. Ultimately, a Skilled Maintenance Engineer should be highly organised, able to keep the electronic work log up to date on a regular basis, order and follow up on machine parts, liaise with external contractors and OEM’s as necessary, suggest improvements to working practices to your Engineer supervisor and handover workload and updates on work activity from your shift to the next shift. In this role, you will be expected to cover holiday and sicknesses as and when required. Please also note that work location may vary depending on projects.

This is an opportunity to be an active team player who is happy to support and be supported in our Engineering department. You will have:

  • NVQ Level 3 Engineering or equivalent
  • Demonstrable workplace experience alongside proof of multi-skilled qualification / conversion training
  • HNC in Electrical Engineering or equivalent discipline (advantageous)
  • A full, clean driving license (desired)
  • Previous experience in a similar role or industry (required)
  • Strong diagnostic / rectification skills
  • Experience working with fine tolerances
  • Flexibility with working hours and shift patterns
  • Reliability with a strong work ethic
  • Comfortable working alone or as part of a small team
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • A broad engineering skill base

Working Hours: 36 contracted hours per week + one 12-hour shift every 4 weeks. Sunday, Monday, Tuesday nights 18:00 – 06:00, and; 1 Saturday night 18:00 – 06:00 every 4 weeks.
