We are seeking a Site General Manager on a full time, permanent basis. Based at our facility in Great Yarmouth, you will provide effective day to day management of the Claxton Great Yarmouth site and business, to ensure the business performs in a safe, profitable, and sustainable manner. You will be responsible for the development and delivery of the annual site business plan and budget whilst managing the business's exposure to risk in accordance with strategic, financial and QHSE objectives and constraints.
Duties & Main Responsibilities
- Develop the annual site budget plan aligned to the 5yr Regional Plan and Claxton's Strategy.
- Establish an effective organizational structure and oversee key hires.
- Manage P&L performance, ensuring financial performance and accuracy in reporting.
- Drive working capital efficiency, recommend investments, and optimize profitability through initiatives.
- Ensure robust monthly financial forecasting and planning.
- Oversee operations, ensuring effective resource management, supply chain efficiency, and project execution.
- Work with the sales team to analyse market trends, client, and competitor intelligence, and identify growth opportunities.
- Strengthen Claxton's presence in the assigned geographic area, ensuring client engagement and overseeing sales performance.
- Represent Claxton at key industry events, driving brand recognition and business development.
- Review & closely monitor commercial proposals to maximise proposal wins.
- Demonstrate QHSE leadership to maintain zero harm to people, the environment, and equipment.
- Ensure compliance with Claxton's Integrated Management System (IMS) and all applicable internal and external QHSE, Export/Trade, and HR policies.
- Lead a proactive safety culture, conduct audits, and develop risk mitigation strategies.
- Implement SMART objectives, drive performance management, and ensure succession planning.
- Develop staff and teams within the site through competency schemes, coaching and implementation of a clear philosophy.
- Maximize staff utilization and foster clear communication to align teams with company strategy.
- Act as the site's primary liaison with senior management and Claxton's global sites, ensuring risks and opportunities are addressed.
- Conduct regular employee updates and ensure communications meet the needs of the team.
- Review and adjust business plans and budgets as needed to meet company goals.
- Identify and implement initiatives to boost efficiency, innovation, and long-term profitability.
- Lead regular management meetings and operational reviews, contributing to Claxton's global business direction.
- Support managers in meeting compliance and operational goals.
- Undertake any necessary tasks to ensure smooth and efficient site operations.
Required
- Educated to degree standard or equivalent experience and knowledge.
- IOSH Managing Safely Certificate.
- Proven track record of developing high performance teams with the ability to coach and develop employees at all levels.
- Strong and timely decision-making skills in fast paced and/or complex environments.
- Demonstrated success in leading teams through change.
- Ability to solve problems and empower teams to overcome challenges.
- Have a proven track record in budgeting and cost control.
- Experience in conflict resolution, managing difficult conversations, negotiation and fostering collaboration across departments and between the sites.
- Strong communication skills with experience in influencing stakeholders at all levels and present to large and diverse groups.
- High-level knowledge of the products and services offered by Claxton (desirable).
- Able to show good all-round understanding of the upstream oil and gas industry, the positioning of the company and opportunities within the market.
- Understands ethical behaviour and business practices and drives own and others' behaviour in line with these standards and the values of the organisation.
- Company compliance processes, including but not restricted to Customs/Export Control/Anti-Bribery/Sanctioned territories.
- High level awareness of employment law, and Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion best practice.
- Knowledge of activities and best practice for the standard functional areas of the business (HSE, Quality, Finance, Projects, Operations, Sales, Commercial and Engineering).
- Lead by example in promoting safety-first behaviours, ensuring compliance with regulations, and fostering an environment where employees feel empowered to identify and address safety concerns.
- Develop and implement strategic initiatives that enhance workplace safety, reduce risks, and promote continuous improvement in health and safety standards.
- Experienced in understanding customer needs and motivations and converting these into plans within the business.
- Contractual awareness coupled with sound commercial experience.
