We have a fantastic opportunity to be part of the Decommissioning Project Team at Claxton Engineering, we are looking to hire a Project Engineer on a full time, permanent basis. Based at our facility in Great Yarmouth, the role will focus on upstream oil & gas, specifically for the supply of equipment and services for well decommissioning. Reporting to the Senior Project Engineer, the Project Engineer will undertake a variety of projects, managing scope, cost, time, risk, resources, procurements, quality, and communications in accordance with company policies, processes, and procedures, whilst adhering to client contractual obligations.

Regular client liaison will take place, manage expectations, and ensure appropriate stakeholder satisfaction is apparent via pro-active management of project scope ensuring all milestones are met.

Duties & Main Responsibilities
  • Ensuring all assigned projects are administered in accordance with company's Quality Management System and to agreed contractual obligations.
  • Maximising both customer satisfaction and company profitability without compromise to health, safety, and the environment by effectively managing projects from their initiation, the planning and execution phases, through to closure, whilst ensuring monitoring and control is exercised.
  • Implementing projects according to contract terms, project goals, and objectives, in a pro-active manner, including regular interface with all stakeholders such as clients, certifying authorities, contractors/suppliers and staff/personnel, as necessary.
  • Ensuring project definition is apparent, clarifying scope, estimates, and assumptions with sales team during project handovers.
  • Ensuring all appropriate projects are kicked off, their meetings are effective, congruent with the project scope and set the tone for success.
  • Attendance to client meetings regarding appropriate project matters as and when required.
  • Preparation of project plans in a timely manner.
  • Creating and updating project schedules, ensuring critical path activities are understood and communicated.
  • Identifying appropriate project risk and implementing risk response planning whilst upwardly referring issues.
  • Proactively managing project change including preparation of variation orders or concession requests for ongoing, active projects.
  • Ensuring project procurements are considered in terms of cost, time, and quality.
  • Understanding project commercial drivers and costs, controlling activities to limit adverse impact upon project finances.
  • Preparation of documentation packs for workshop activities to enable efficient product realisation and mobilisation within time demands of the project, ensuring appropriate reviews take place with necessary personnel.

  • Ensuring the Design Engineering department is appraised of the project scope such that all engineering activities and calculations are carried out to verify the suitability of equipment and procedures.
  • Liaison with Product Leaders to ensure technical matters pertaining to the product line and their application are understood and actioned, as necessary.
  • Where contractually obliged, attendance offshore to assure project execution and fulfilment.
  • Remain contactable during critical project/offshore start up activities.
  • Collating project metrics and report building during project execution for appropriate projects.
  • Provision of project reports and weekly time sheets, end of project, lessons learned, and technical reports are submitted on time, where appropriate.
  • All lessons learned are captured throughout the course of a project (real time) and fed back to appropriate stakeholders in timely manner.
  • Appropriate projects are washed-up and rolled out to relevant staff.
  • Liaison with the sales team to identify and respond to project sales opportunities, assisting where required with preparation of bids and quotations for potential projects.
  • Fulfilling rostered On-Call (out of hours) duty.
  • Any other relevant work/projects (reasonable requests) as may be assigned by the Management team from time to time.
Required
  • Minimum HNC/HND in Engineering, or 5 years' experience in an Engineering environment in upstream oil & gas.
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Office 365 and other Microsoft software.
  • Application of well decommissioning products & services in the upstream oil & gas sector.
  • Project management, quality management systems, health and safety, safe systems of work and legal requirements.
  • Project financing and commercial drivers.
  • Demonstrable experience in project management whilst adhering to ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems.
  • Oil & gas industry experience commensurate with the job requirements.
  • Experience in the production of programs of work and project management/execution plans and reports.
  • Leading by example.
  • Organisational with and keen attention to detail.
  • The ability to communicate clearly and concisely with diverse audiences.

  • Current Offshore Survival and Medical Certification.
