Claverley Medical Practice is seeking an experienced Receptionist to join our wonderful team at our rural surgery which is situated on the borders of Wolverhampton & Shropshire. This role would be approx. 25 hours per week. Mondays are required but other days/times can be discussed. NHS working pattern contract for us is 8-8 but the surgery is open 08:00-18:30 Monday-Friday and occasionally on Saturday mornings to accommodate clinics such as flu vaccinations, covid vaccinations etc. We are also part of a network of local surgeries which offers occasional evening appointments across sites. However, successful applicants are only expected to work from Claverley Medical Practice. Our surgery is CQC rated 'Good' and is very patient orientated.

Job responsibilities:
Job Purpose: To ensure that the reception area of the Practice runs smoothly, providing a high level of service to patients, doctors, nurses and other members of the Practice team.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Telephone Duties:
- Making and cancelling appointments
- Giving out results as per practice procedure
- Home visit requests
- Dealing with general enquiries and complaints
- Contacting other providers
- Any other enquiries
- Accepting new patients and temporary residents forms
- Greet and direct patients and visitors including signing in and out procedures
- Making appointments and dealing with appointment enquiries
- Handing out prescriptions and dispensed medication
- Ensure outstanding queries are explained and handed over to next shift, as necessary
- Respond to needs of doctors and nurses during surgery
- Collect payments from patients for non-NHS services
- Deal with general enquiries and complaints as per practice procedure
- Pulling Lloyd George envelopes when requested by doctors and filing appropriately
- Dealing with requests for repeat prescriptions as per practice procedure
- Dealing with queries relating to repeat prescriptions or directing appropriately to dispensary
- Input and extract information from Practice computer system
- Observe health and safety guidelines at all times
- Make refreshments for doctors and other team members, participate in washing up
- Any other reasonable duties as necessary
Person Specification:
Experience: Experience of working within the NHS or healthcare setting is essential.
Knowledge and skills:
- Work well as part of a team
- Provide high quality customer service skills & patient care
- Understanding of patient confidentiality
- Basic IT skills
- Ability to undertake online training modules (Bluestream Training)
- Confident with emergency situations
