Classroom Support is delighted to be working in partnership with a well-established specialist SEN school in Gravesend, which is seeking to recruit several experienced SEN Teaching Assistants to join their dedicated team from September.
This exceptional school supports children and young people across both Primary and Secondary settings, catering for pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), and Moderate to Severe Learning Difficulties. The school offers an outstanding learning environment with excellent facilities and also has a nearby college provision in Gravesend.
The school is divided into five specialist sectors, creating a range of opportunities for candidates with different SEN backgrounds and experience.
These positions will initially be offered on a temporary basis, with the opportunity to secure a permanent contract following a successful period working through Classroom Support.
The Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teaching staff to provide high-quality support, helping pupils to access learning, develop independence, and achieve their full potential in a safe and nurturing environment.
Requirements
We are looking for candidate(s) who have:
- Previous experience working within an SEN school or supporting children and young people with ASD and/or Moderate to Severe Learning Difficulties.
- A kind, patient, and compassionate approach with a genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
- Experience supporting individuals with PMLD, medical needs, or moving and handling (highly desirable).
- A willingness to provide personal care where required, as some classes involve supporting pupils with intimate care needs.
- A current Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or the willingness to obtain one and register it on the Update Service.
We also welcome applications from candidates with backgrounds in care, nursing, support work, or personal care, as these skills are highly transferable to specialist education settings.
