We are recruiting on behalf of a small, welcoming SEN school in Margate for a Learning Support Assistant to join their team on a long-term supply basis, with the opportunity to become permanent for the right person.

About the School

This is a specialist SEN school supporting pupils across both Primary and Secondary age ranges, with a range of Social, Emotional, Mental Health (SEMH) and Learning Difficulties. Many pupils have additional needs including:

  • ASD
  • ADHD
  • Attachment difficulties
  • SEMH needs
  • Learning difficulties

The school provides a supportive, structured environment where staff work closely with pupils to help them develop both academically and personally. You’ll be joining a friendly and welcoming team where building positive relationships with students is at the heart of the role.

The Role

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will support pupils both 1:1 and in small groups, helping them engage with learning and providing encouragement, structure and pastoral support. The role may involve supporting students who can display challenging behaviour, so confidence, patience and a calm approach are essential. Previous experience with interventions or mentoring young people would also be beneficial.

What We’re Looking For

We would ideally like candidates who have:

  • Experience supporting young people with ASD, ADHD or SEMH
  • Experience working with students who may display challenging behaviour
  • Experience providing 1:1 and/or small-group support
  • Experience mentoring or supporting young people
  • Previous experience working within an SEN or specialist school is desirable
  • A calm, patient and resilient approach
  • A genuine interest in supporting young people with additional needs

Key Information

Location: Margate
Position: Learning Support Assistant
Pay: £95–£100 per day
Hours: 8:30am–3:30pm
Days: Monday–Friday
Contract: Long-term supply, term time only
Start: Immediate
Potential: Opportunity to become permanent

You will need an Enhanced DBS with Children's Barred List check. If you already hold an Enhanced DBS, it will need to be registered on the Update Service. Alternatively, we can support you with obtaining a new DBS.
