Classroom support are excited to be working with a large mainstream Primary School in the Maidstone area. We are recruiting on their behalf for an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant for a temporary long-term position starting in Jan/Feb 2026. There is a highly competitive rate of pay which is £90 per day depending on experience, for working hours of 8.30am - 3.30pm. Working days are Monday-Friday term time only.

Requirements of the role are:

  • Supporting a pupil with ASD (Autism), who needs a lot of 1:1 support both in and out of class.
  • Using your experience of effective behaviour management. Resilience, patience and calmness are what the school are looking for.
  • Understanding of Autism and experience working with adults or children with similar support needs.
  • Advantageous of holding a relevant Teaching Assistant qualification.
  • Additionally, fulfilling any required duties defined by the class teacher.
  • Be willing to provide lunch cover on occasions.
  • Any experience with SEN, through work or personal experience is advantageous.

Please note you will either need a DBS on the update service, or to run a new one and put it on the update service. We can support with this if you need us to, the DBS cost if you want us to run you one is £63.70.

A sound understanding of safeguarding and child protection is essential for this role. All applicants will be subject to safer recruitment checks, including references and an Enhanced DBS check in line with DfE guidelines.
