Classroom Support is excited to be working with a SEN school in Lewisham that is looking to recruit several experienced SEN Teaching Assistants to start ASAP. The school supports children and young adults across both Primary and Secondary SEN settings with ASD, PMLD and moderate to severe learning difficulties. The environment and grounds are outstanding, and they also have a college site based in Lewisham nearby. The school consists of five sectors and has several vacancies. Positions will start on a temporary basis with a possible option to go permanent after a set number of weeks working through Classroom Support.

Responsibilities

  • Provide classroom support to students with SEN across Primary and Secondary settings (including ASD, PMLD, and moderate to severe learning difficulties).
  • Support moving and handling for students and assist with basic personal care where required.
  • Work in a variety of classes and settings as part of a team, supporting individual needs and behaviour management as appropriate.
  • Be proactive in creating a supportive, inclusive environment that promotes learning and well-being.
  • Comply with safeguarding, health and safety, and school policies; DBS verification is required.

Pay rate of £90+ per day, with weekly pay in arrears.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Experience supporting students within SEN schools or substantial experience with Autism or Moderate to Severe learning difficulties.
  • Kind, caring, and compassionate nature.
  • Experience of moving and handling people and supporting children and/or adults with medical needs or PMLD is highly advantageous.
  • A personal care background is not required for all roles, but some classes are personal care heavy and a willingness to provide basic personal care is essential.
  • Must already have or be willing to pay for a DBS and register it on the Update Service.
