About the Role

We are looking for hands-on and compassionate Youth Engagement Workers to support children and young people who have disengaged from school and their local community. This role focuses on working 1:1 with young people, helping to rebuild their confidence, support their learning, and re-engage them with both education and their community. You will play a key role in being a consistent, positive role model—someone who understands their challenges and is committed to helping them succeed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 support to young people who are not currently engaging with school or their community
  • Support learning through tailored, flexible approaches
  • Help young people re-engage with their local community through planned activities
  • Build strong, trusting relationships and act as a positive role model
  • Transport young people from their home to a learning centre or approved community activities
  • Ensure activities outside of the centre take place in pre-approved and fully risk-assessed environments
  • Promote emotional wellbeing, confidence, and social development

Ideal Backgrounds & Experience

  • Youth Workers
  • Teaching Assistants or Education Support Staff
  • Alternative Provision (AP) experience
  • Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) experience
  • Sports Coaches
  • Mentors or Behaviour Support Workers
  • Social Care or Support Work backgrounds

Experience working with children or young people with additional needs or challenging behaviour is highly desirable.
