Classroom Recruiters has been chosen as the preferred supplier for a range of children's homes in the Burton, Swadlincote & Derby area. We have been tasked to recruit a bank of staff to support the day-to-day running of these homes. We are looking for about 10 staff to work at a range of homes and support children who have special needs. This means no messing about with interviews that go nowhere and you get a fast track to work as soon as all your compliance checks have been done.

This role is for individuals who want to work as a Bank Children's Support Worker, with the freedom to choose when you work based on your schedule. Whether you’re seeking part-time work or more hours, this position offers the flexibility you need, allowing you to pick shifts that suit your lifestyle. Ideally, we are looking for staff who want regular work.

Location: Burton-On-Trent & Swadlincote & Derby areas

Start Date: ASAP (flexible, happy to wait for notice periods)

Must have: You must drive

Ideal Backgrounds Include:

  • Experienced children’s support workers or individuals with experience in adult care.
  • Nursing, ambulance service, prison service, or adult care.
  • Sports coaching, teaching assistant roles, or youth work.
  • Youth workers
  • Swim Teachers
  • Nursery nurses, public services, or mental health professionals.
  • University students studying Public Services, Child Development, SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) courses, or Child Psychology.

The Role:

This role is all about delivering the highest standard of care to children with special needs. Regardless of your experience level, you will take part in a comprehensive training program to ensure that all staff work to the same high standards. You’ll be working in a residential children’s home with a fantastic reputation for excellence in care, supporting children with needs such as autism, complex conditions, and emotional challenges.

As a Bank Children's Support Worker, you’ll have the flexibility to choose your shifts based on your availability. The shifts available include:

  • 07:00 – 15:15
  • 14:00 – 22:00
  • Double shifts (07:00 – 22:00)

Shifts vary, so you can decide what works best for you, allowing for a healthy work-life balance. You will work in dorms that accommodate 1 - 4 children, alongside trained support workers, ensuring the smooth running of daily activities.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Support children in their morning and evening routines.
  • Build strong, positive relationships and promote a structured daily routine.
  • Assist in social development and vocational activities.
  • Deliver sensory activities (full training provided).
  • Promote positive interactions within the home.
  • Be an emotionally available adult who is caring, understanding, and adaptable.
  • Assist with cooking and encourage independence in daily tasks.
  • Communicate with parents and senior staff to provide accurate updates on a child’s progress.
  • Maintain accurate records and safeguarding logs.
  • Participate in day trips and vocational activities, such as shopping, rock climbing, and bowling.
