Classroom Recruiters is the preferred supplier of small, supportive schools across the Matlock and Belper area. These schools trust us to find the very best staff to support their new cohort of pupils starting this September.
The Role
This isn’t a “sit at the back and laminate” job. It’s a fully 1:1 role, giving you the time and headspace to truly support one child – understanding how they think, how they learn, and what helps them thrive. You’ll play a direct role in a child’s development, seeing real progress over time.
About the Schools we work with:

- Social, emotional, and mental health needs
Many pupils are high-functioning and need adults who can genuinely connect, stay calm under pressure, and provide consistent support. You’ll be working alongside experienced teachers and supportive leadership teams who prioritise both pupil progress and staff wellbeing.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Providing tailored 1:1 support
- Supporting emotional regulation and behaviour
- Building strong, trusting relationships
- Encouraging independence and confidence
- Working closely with teachers and SEND teams
- Supporting personalised learning plans
The Opportunity
We have both part-time and full-time roles available across a range of age groups. You will initially work through Classroom Recruiters for the first 10 weeks as a probation period. If you meet the expected standards during this time, you will move onto a permanent contract with the school.
Who We’re Looking For

- SEND experience
- Mainstream school experience
- Support workers
- Youth workers
- Residential care staff
- Sports coaches or swim teachers

Requirements
- Previous experience working with children (essential)
- Experience with additional needs (highly desirable)
- Relevant qualifications (desirable but not essential)
- A calm, patient, and resilient approach
The Details
- Small supportive schools
- Lots of support
- Monday to Friday, 08:30 – 16:00
- £106.10 per day (inclusive of holiday pay)
- Schools across Matlock & Belper
- Pupils aged 4–19
