Location: Derby

Start Date: Immediate

Contract: Full-time, Monday-Friday (until end of March)

Pay: £90-£115 per day (depending on experience)

You will be working 1:1 with a Year 1 pupil with SEMH needs, providing consistent emotional and learning support while building a trusted, positive relationship. We are looking for someone who genuinely wants to invest time in building a strong bond and understands the importance of patience, empathy, and consistency. By offering calm guidance and tailored support — including working with non-verbal communication where appropriate — you will play a vital role in shaping the child's confidence, emotional development, and engagement with learning at a crucial stage of their life.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide consistent 1:1 support to a pupil with SEMH needs within a Year 1 class
  • Support emotional regulation, behaviour management, and engagement in learning
  • Work closely with the class teacher and SEN team to implement support strategies
  • Promote a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment
  • Support communication and interaction, adapting approaches to meet individual needs
The Ideal Candidate Will:
  • Be comfortable and confident working with SEMH and SEN pupils
  • Have previous experience supporting children with additional needs
  • Experience working with non-verbal children is highly desirable
  • Be patient, resilient, and emotionally attuned
  • Have a genuine passion for supporting young children's development
