Join a passionate team working to end inequality in education through the power of Classics. We’re looking for a Fundraising and Events Officer to help devise, organise and deliver a variety of events, seek sponsorship opportunities and grow our membership base. From managing systems and data to coordinating logistics and analysing results, every day can be a little bit different. You will be the first point of contact for many of our event attendees, donors and supporters and will enjoy building relationships and improving and maintaining systems to ensure that people have a positive interaction with Classics for All.
Event organisation
- Support the Head of Giving with event strategy, Events Planning Committee meetings and calendar development.
- Lead on the operational logistics of the charity’s key donor engagement and recruitment events, including but not limited to creating budgets and making venue, catering and technical arrangements within these.
- Create and distribute sponsorship proposals with the aim of covering some/all of the event delivery costs.
- Ensure the website is relevant and current in relation to events.
- Promote and manage ticket sales, delegate management and communication, considering the range of relevant audiences.
- Organise event materials (including invitations, registration lists and nametags) and manage volunteers where relevant.
- Ensure that technical requirements, such as online event hosting and technical support for speakers, managing online registration, audience and live chat are managed.
- Complete post-event analysis, reporting and follow-up.
- Develop speaker briefings and promotional material with key messages.
- Be the first point of contact for event queries from participants and guests, including through managing emails.
- Develop knowledge of our CRM and associated software relating to events and communications.
Community management
- Working with the Head of Giving, support the ongoing development of the Lawyers’ Group and The Chorus:
- Providing support to the Steering Committee.
- Leading on the logistics of event organisation.
- Stewarding group members to keep them active and engaged.
- Administering membership, ensuring that records are accurately kept.
- Work with the Head of Giving and Steering Committee to engage and develop membership.
Finance
- Support the Head of Giving in the preparation of event budgets and forecasting.
- Monitor spend against budgets, identifying variances and working with the Head of Giving on addressing these where needed.
- Process invoices and expense claims in relation to events, ensuring correct coding.
- Reconcile event income (donations and ticket sales) between Salesforce and our financial systems, as well as with any external platforms used to sell tickets.
Other
- To be an active and inspiring ambassador for the Classics for All brand, proactively promoting the charity externally, building networks and identifying opportunities to introduce Classics for All to new audiences.
- To be an effective member of the wider staff team, sharing ideas, collaborating with colleagues, partners and volunteers to help end Classics education inequality.
- To conduct all activities in line with our values and in a manner which promotes and enhances Classics for All’s image and reputation.
- To support the delivery of Classics for All’s high-profile events as part of the wider team, including but not limited to the moot trial and Overboard.
Additional information
- To undertake any other duties that may be reasonably required to fulfil the duties of this post.
- The role may involve travel within the UK, the cost of which will be covered by Classics for All.
- Evening work is required for which Time Off in Lieu (TOIL) can be taken, therefore the post-holder must be flexible and able to occasionally stay overnight away from home.
