The Opportunity
Join a friendly kitchen team delivering great food and genuine hospitality. As a Kitchen Porter you will support the smooth running of the kitchen by ensuring cleanliness, assisting with basic food preparation, handling dishwashing and refuse, and supporting chefs during service. This is an excellent role for someone starting or building a career in hospitality who is reliable, hardworking, and happy to work as part of a busy team.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate dishwashing equipment and ensure all crockery, cutlery and kitchenware are cleaned and stored correctly
- Maintain cleanliness of kitchen areas, service stations, floors, and drains throughout the shift
- Clear and transport waste and recycling to designated areas, following hygiene and safety procedures
- Assist with basic food preparation tasks as instructed by chefs (e.g. peeling, portioning, plating support)
- Unload deliveries and store provisions in line with FIFO and temperature control requirements
- Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene and COSHH procedures at all times
- Report maintenance issues and any hazards to the Head Chef or supervisor promptly
- Support the team during busy periods, responding to requests quickly and positively

- Previous experience in a similar role is desirable but not essential — we welcome applicants keen to learn
- Good understanding of basic kitchen hygiene and willingness to follow procedures
- Ability to work well within a team, taking direction from chefs and supervisors
- Reliable, punctual and able to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and bank holidays
- Physically fit and able to stand for long periods and lift moderate weights
- Positive attitude, attention to detail and pride in maintaining high standards of cleanliness
