The Role: Software Engineer
We are seeking a talented Software Engineer with experience in web applications to join our growing development team. This role is ideal for someone who is confident in their coding skills and eager to expand their expertise, while contributing to impactful projects in a collaborative and agile environment. You’ll be working alongside senior engineers, gaining exposure to modern technologies, and helping deliver high-quality solutions that support the business.
Location: Hybrid / remote flexibility, with recurring visits to our Manchester office required.
Hours: The role is a full-time position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain web applications, primarily using PHP, following best practices and coding standards.
- Collaborate with the development team to design, implement, and test new features.
- Work with stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Contribute to code reviews and participate in discussions around architecture and process improvements.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues across production and development environments.
- Stay up to date with industry trends and apply them where appropriate.
- Support the team with documentation and knowledge sharing.
About You, Qualifications and Skills:
Key Qualifications:
- 2–4 years of professional experience in software engineering.
- Strong understanding of web technologies and MVC frameworks.
- Experience with PHP and relational databases (MySQL preferred).
- Familiarity with front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, JS/TS.
- Knowledge of version control systems (Git).
- Ability to write clean, maintainable, and efficient code.
- Problem-solving mindset, with attention to detail and quality.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Magento (Magento 2 is a plus).
- Experience with front end frameworks (e.g. React).
- Exposure to e-commerce platforms and integrations.
- Experience working within Agile teams.
