The Role: Data Operations Manager

We’re looking for a Data Operations Manager to take ownership of our data operations — ensuring our data pipelines, integrations, and reporting infrastructure run smoothly across our e-commerce ecosystem. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys optimising data workflows, improving reliability, and driving automation to deliver high-quality, actionable insights.

Location: Hybrid Role, Manchester Area or Remote

Hours: The role is a full-time position, 39 hours per week, 5 days a week, between Monday and Friday.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and optimise data pipelines, integrations, and workflows across our e-commerce platforms.
  • Oversee the collection, transformation, and delivery of data — ensuring quality, accuracy, and availability.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot data systems, resolving issues quickly and preventing downtime or data gaps.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for automation and efficiency in data operations.
  • Support data governance, privacy, and security standards across all processes.
  • Provide technical guidance and best practices to colleagues working with data.
  • Report on operational metrics and continuously improve our data infrastructure.

About You, Qualification and skills:

  • Strong background in data operations, data engineering, or data management, ideally within e-commerce or digital-first environments.
  • Hands-on experience with ETL/ELT pipelines, APIs, and system integrations.
  • Proficient in SQL and experienced with tools such as dbt, Airflow, Fivetran, Stitch, Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift.
  • Familiar with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with a proactive and detail-oriented approach.
  • Strong communicator who can explain technical issues clearly to non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • 5+ years’ experience in data operations or data engineering, ideally in an e-commerce or digital-first environment.
  • Proven experience managing and optimising data pipelines, APIs, and integrations at scale.
  • A collaborative mindset and ability to work cross-functionally to deliver reliable, insight-driven data.
