Role Description
The Transport Logistics Manager is responsible for the total Transport operation by organizing the safe and efficient delivery of goods, via own fleet or 3rd party within budgetary constraints. The position holder will be data driven and use current reports and information to make all relevant improvements required to improve performance and cost. They will also have to work closely with the sales team to ensure all new business is integrated into the operation in a timely and seamless manner. Responsible for the overall Transport operation with the aim of strategically growing the fleet and delivery areas to cover London and our current and future Hubs.
Key Responsibilities
- Route Planning and Delivery
- Supports planning function utilising TMS platform to ensure customer requirements are met including time windows and POD availability.
- Ensure routes planned are within weight limit and time constraints.
- Track and monitor KPI's including vehicle fill and profitability, driver hours, customer satisfaction scores, accidents, R&M etc.
- Work with the regional hub Lead Drivers to ensure routes are optimised, cost effective and the correct resources provided.
- Monitor vehicle temperature control and ensure the cold chain is maintained at all times.
- Ensures all deliveries have completed POD and any discrepancies are investigated.
- Ensure driver debrief at end of shift, capturing feedback and addressing issues.
- Organise and oversee the running of the entire transport department.
- Maintain communication between the transport and warehouse teams and wider business in order to ensure all issues are resolved in a timely manner.
- Motivate and encourage teamwork within the workforce to ensure productivity targets are met.
- Implement and maintain health and safety procedures.
- Ensures the team are adequately trained (security, hygiene, BRC standards products, customers).
- Monitor Colleagues KPIs to ensure all staff are achieving their targets.
Role Requirements & Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years management experience within the transport and logistics industry.
- Managed a mixed fleet of 50 vehicles.
- Excellent knowledge and understanding of transport legislation and compliance.
- Experience using route planning software.
- IT Literate with an excellent attention to detail.
- Articulate, confident and resilient with an ability to absorb pressure and respond positively.
- Hold a full Valid UK driving license. Cat C license or above an advantage but not essential.
- Manage drivers and ensure deliveries are made with excellent service and abiding to all Road and Traffic laws.
- Oversee drivers performance and probation reviews.
- Responsible for opening and closing the Site when required.
- Manage Driver Infringements and Training where applicable.
