Deputy Headteacher (Teaching & Leadership Role)

Start Date: 13th April
Duration: 14 weeks initially

Class Mate is working in partnership with a well-run, welcoming primary school in the DE21 area to recruit an experienced Deputy Headteacher for a mixed teaching and leadership role. This is a genuinely balanced opportunity for a strong leader who enjoys staying connected to the classroom while taking on meaningful whole-school responsibility.
The Role
- 4 days per week teaching Year 2
- 1 day per week (Thurs) Deputy Headteacher (non-teaching)
On your designated Deputy Head day, you will be left in charge of the school while the Headteacher is off-site. This includes overseeing the day-to-day running of the school and supporting staff as needed.

Key Responsibilities
Teaching (Year 2 - 4 days):
- Deliver engaging, high-quality lessons
- Maintain strong routines and expectations
- Work collaboratively within the KS1 team
Leadership (1 day):
- Act as Headteacher in the Head's absence
- Lead and host staff meetings
- Support teaching and support staff across the school
- Ensure smooth daily operations and safeguarding oversight
- Communicate confidently with staff, parents (if required), and the office team
Who We're Looking For
- An experienced Deputy Headteacher, or a senior leader ready for this level of responsibility
- Strong KS1 teaching experience (Year 2 preferred)
- Calm, organised, and confident leading a school day independently
- Professional, approachable, and respected by staff
