Class Education are delighted to be working in partnership with a highly successful and Outstanding secondary school in Hitchin to recruit a Teacher of Science for a maternity cover position commencing in September 2026. This is an exciting opportunity to join a high-performing and supportive Science Department within a school renowned for academic excellence, exceptional teaching standards, and strong staff development.
The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic and passionate Science teacher who can inspire students across Key Stages 3 and 4. The ability to teach Chemistry to A Level would be advantageous, although this is not essential. The school welcomes applications from both experienced teachers and ECTs looking to develop within a well-established and nurturing environment.
The Science Department is exceptionally well resourced and benefits from a purpose-built science block containing eleven fully equipped laboratories. Teachers are supported by an experienced team of five technicians, allowing for engaging and practical science teaching. The department offers all three sciences at A Level and delivers the OCR Gateway curriculum at Key Stage 4. Students benefit from a rich extracurricular programme including science clubs, enrichment societies, educational visits, lectures, and STEM-related opportunities.
