About the Role
Class Education are working with a Stevenage Secondary School who are seeking a dedicated and skilled Learning Support Assistant with a minimum of Level 2 British Sign Language (BSL) qualification to join their supportive and inclusive team. This is a rewarding opportunity to work closely with students who are deaf or have hearing impairments, helping them to fully access their education and thrive within the school environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small group support to students using British Sign Language (BSL)
- Facilitate effective communication between students, staff, and peers
- Support the delivery of lessons by interpreting and adapting content where necessary
- Assist in the development and implementation of individual education plans (IEPs)
- Encourage students' independence, confidence, and social inclusion
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCO, and external specialists
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- A recognised Level 2 qualification in British Sign Language (BSL)
- Experience working with children or young people, ideally within an SEN setting
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
