Duties as SEND Teaching Assistant:

  • Support pupils with a range of special educational needs across EYFS, KS1, KS2, KS3 and KS4
  • Work closely with teachers and SENCOs to implement individual learning plans
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to help pupils access the curriculum
  • Promote inclusive practice and encourage pupil independence
  • Assist with personal care and mobility needs where required
  • Help maintain a safe, nurturing and stimulating learning environment
  • Monitor progress and contribute to pupil assessments and reviews

Ideal SEND Teaching Assistant:

  • Has recent experience supporting children or young people with SEND in an educational setting
  • Demonstrates a strong understanding of a range of learning needs including autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and SEMH
  • Is patient, adaptable and confident working with pupils with complex needs
  • Holds a relevant Level 2 or Level 3 qualification (or equivalent experience)
  • Has a clear Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willing to obtain one
