Seeking Kitchen Porters looking for their next challenge! You will be joining the team at a leading independent boarding school based near Thatcham. The site is beautiful and everything is held to very high standard with no detail overlooked. Whatever your job here, you are encouraged to get fully involved with the life of the school. The school offers a positive and nurturing work environment and in exchange, requires an enthusiastic and professional candidate!
Hours are flexible to cater to the needs of the boarders and also support a variety of exciting events during the week and at the weekend. Offering generous and competitive hourly rates of £13-£16 per hour based on skill and experience.
What We're Looking For
- Hold an enhanced DBS or the means to gain one
- Able to work within a team and independently
- Able to work confidently in busy or unfamiliar kitchens
- Reliable, punctual, and professionally presented
- Strong communicators who work well under pressure
- Knowledgeable about food safety and hygiene procedures
- Flexible with shifts (daytime, evenings, weekends)
- Experience as a KP is preferred
- Driving licence is preferred but not required
Roles, Skills & Responsibilities
- Adhere to all responsibilities instructed at the start of your shift
- Understand and follow all back of house duties such as using machines, washing up by hand, sweeping and mopping floors, emptying refuse bins, cleaning the kitchen area
- Maintain a clean, safe working environment
- Know your chemicals, COSHH, HACCP
- Step into short-notice temporary shifts with confidence
- Meet uniform standards such as safety shoes, cleaned and ironed uniform
