Class 1 Personnel is currently recruiting on behalf of our client for a dedicated and reliable Kitchen Porter to work within a busy school kitchen environment in Romford. This is a rewarding opportunity to contribute to providing healthy meals for students and staff while working in a supportive and structured setting.

This role requires a valid Enhanced DBS certificate due to working within a school environment.

The Role:

As a Kitchen Porter, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of the school kitchen by maintaining high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and organisation. You will support the catering team in delivering an efficient meal service to pupils and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Washing dishes, trays, cutlery, and kitchen equipment
  • Maintaining cleanliness of all kitchen and food preparation areas
  • Ensuring dining areas are kept tidy where required
  • Assisting with basic food preparation tasks under supervision
  • Safely operating dishwashers and other kitchen equipment
  • Proper disposal of waste and recycling in line with school policies
  • Following strict food hygiene and health & safety regulations
  • Supporting the catering team during busy lunch service periods

Requirements:

  • Valid Enhanced DBS certificate (essential)
  • Previous experience in kitchen or catering
  • Understanding of food hygiene standards (Level 2 Food Hygiene preferred)
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Reliable, punctual, and professional attitude
  • Ability to work around children in a respectful and safeguarding-aware manner
