We are looking for reliable, hardworking Loader Operative to join a waste collection team based in Kidderminster.
Working as part of a collection crew, you will help collect household, recycling, and commercial waste safely and efficiently, ensuring high standards of customer service, environmental responsibility, and health and safety.
This is a physically demanding outdoor role, requiring individuals who are dependable, enjoy working as part of a team, and are committed to delivering an excellent service to the local community.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect household, recycling, and commercial waste from designated collection points.
- Load refuse and recyclable materials onto collection vehicles safely and efficiently.
- Return bins and containers to the correct location after collection.
- Assist the driver in completing daily collection rounds on schedule.
- Ensure all collections are carried out in line with operational procedures and service standards.
- Health & Safety
- Follow all health and safety policies and safe working practices.
- Carry out manual handling tasks safely.
- Wear and maintain the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) provided.
- Report accidents, incidents, hazards, and near misses promptly.
- Help maintain a safe working environment for colleagues and members of the public.
- Teamwork
- Work effectively as part of a collection crew.
- Support colleagues to complete collection routes efficiently.
- Communicate professionally with drivers, supervisors, and team members.
- Assist with operational requirements as needed.
- General Duties
- Assist with vehicle cleanliness and daily checks where required.
- Follow instructions from supervisors and drivers.
- Undertake any other duties appropriate to the role.
Person Specification
Essential
- Experience working in a physically demanding environment.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Good level of physical fitness.
- Good communication skills.
- Reliable, punctual, and dependable.
- Ability to follow instructions and work safely.
- Previous experience as a Refuse Loader, Waste Operative, Recycling Operative, Labourer, or in a similar role.
- Experience within waste management, environmental services, or local authority operations.
