This is an exciting opportunity to join the friendly and supportive Obstetrics and Gynaecology Team at Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust. The posts give opportunity and support for training in specialty and special interests within the department as well as the opportunity to undertake Quality Improvement projects by mutual agreement to suit the individual.
The posts are particularly suitable for doctors experienced in obstetrics and gynaecology, who are looking for more experience aiming to enter specialist training or to support CESR, and will provide clinical experience on the 2nd on call tier. The post holders will be supported by, and work in conjunction with, the consultants in obstetrics and gynaecology, working alongside the other second on call doctors, junior medical team and nursing and midwifery colleagues.
There is an on-call commitment on the 2nd on call rota; therefore, a minimum of 3 years obstetrics and gynaecology experience is required with 12 months 2nd on call preferably a minimum of 6 months clinical experience in the UK. The duties will involve the day-to-day care and management of in-patients and outpatients in all aspects of general elective and emergency obstetrics and gynaecology, working under direct or indirect supervision of a consultant.
The daytime direct clinical care sessions will include labour ward and gynaecology-on call, antenatal and gynaecology clinics, and theatre sessions. The post holders will participate in the 2nd on call rota, including out of hours on a 1 in 8 full shift with prospective cover for annual, study and statutory days leave.
The post holders will be expected to undertake mandatory training and attend local PROMPT training, and will be encouraged to undertake an audit or quality improvement project during their tenure, in order to enhance the patient experience or to improve patient management. The successful applicants will be supported to maintain requirements for Continued Professional Development as specified by the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists.
