Band 5 – Physiotherapist
An exciting opportunity has become available for a Band 5 Physiotherapist to join the Stamford Unit Intermediate Care Team. This is a permanent, static, full time (37.5 hours per week) position.
Job Summary
Key responsibilities include providing physiotherapy assessments, treatment and advice to adult patients on the intermediate care unit. The role involves assessment, diagnosis, formulation of therapy treatment goals, and advising and treating patients, carers, families and staff of other agencies. The post holder will also support the MDT with other therapists, nursing staff, technical instructors, health care therapy assistants, students and other health professionals visiting the unit.
Key Duties
- Represent the physiotherapy department in the multidisciplinary team, providing advice to other health professionals.
- Supervise physiotherapy assistants, technical instructors, physiotherapy students and assistant practitioners.
- Act autonomously, being professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of professional and clinical work.
- Undertake patient visits and attend meetings, training etc.
- Work across 7 days including weekends, weekdays and bank holidays.
- Manage a caseload of patients.
- Use evidence based, client centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions.
- Delegate appropriate work to unregistered staff within the multidisciplinary team.
- Participate in triage, assessment and treatment processes for patients referred to the services.
- Motivate patients to work with treatment programmes and towards treatment goals.
- Provide treatment, which may include use of therapeutic electrical equipment, manual handling and therapeutic handling of patients.
- Provide ongoing reassessment and evaluation of response to treatment and adjust goals accordingly.
- Provide advice on patient care to other health, social and voluntary sector services.
- Liaise with other members of the MDT to ensure timely and appropriate patient discharge home.
