The predicted salary is between 38682 - 46580 £ per year.

The post holder will work as part of the Trust's Integrated Infant Feeding Team to implement the UNICEF Baby Friendly Standards across hospital and community settings. They will contribute to and implement the multi-agency Tameside Infant Feeding Strategy and provide specialist clinical infant feeding support for parents and staff.

Main duties of the job:

  • Support the delivery of infant feeding services across maternity/NICU/0-19 years community services to increase breastfeeding rates, promote responsive bottle feeding and relationship building, and influence solid food introduction practices for healthy eating.
  • Work with partners in hospital, community, primary care and Family Hubs within Tameside and with a range of voluntary services to develop infant feeding services across the borough.
  • Maintain accurate records of all care delivered and ensure compliance with infant feeding standards.
  • Develop knowledge and act as an independent autonomous practitioner providing specialist advice to parents and staff.
  • Provide education and support to other multidisciplinary staff and learners within this agenda.
  • Support the delivery of action plans to ensure the Trust and partner organisations meet the required BFI standards for successful BFI accreditation.
  • Develop skills and knowledge to deliver specialised programmes of care including specialist clinics and home visits for babies and mothers.
  • Use multiple communication and marketing methods to disseminate health information about breastfeeding, introducing solid foods and infant feeding (e.g., social media, press releases, health information development, training).

Essential qualifications, professional qualifications and skills:

  • Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (Health Visiting) OR Midwife
  • V100 Nurse Prescriber
  • Post-registration experience as an HV
  • 2-day BFI Training

Desirable qualifications:

  • BFI trained
  • Teaching and Assessing qualification e.g. ENB 998
  • IBCLC Qualification

Essential experience:

  • Working with children and families in a community setting
  • Experience in providing infant feeding support
  • Experience working with safeguarding procedures and guidelines

Desirable experience:

  • Experience of working independently or as part of a team
  • Experience of collaborating with other professionals within the health economy and from other organisations
  • Knowledge and experience of the UNICEF Baby Friendly Initiative

Skills and knowledge:

  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • IT skills and ability to use Microsoft packages

Desirable skills:

  • Awareness of social and cultural factors relating to breastfeeding, infant feeding and weaning practices
  • Knowledge of Baby Friendly Initiative
