Specialist Respiratory Physiotherapist – Band 7 – 15 hours per week. The role is predominantly based on ITU and surgical wards but is part of the wider Respiratory team, providing opportunity to work with a range of patients and conditions at Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust. The position includes flexibility over 2 or 3 days and contributions to the overnight and weekend on-call rota.

Responsibilities

  • Advanced knowledge of respiratory care on ITU and surgical areas.
  • Function as a competent clinical practitioner assessing and managing acutely unwell patients and their families as an integral part of the Respiratory team.
  • Develop locally agreed advanced skills in response to service and clinical demand.
  • Initiate and participate in audit and research projects relevant to respiratory care.
  • Accountable for actions in accordance with the Healthy Care Professionals Council Code of Conduct and Trust policies.

Qualifications

  • Essential Training & Qualifications
  • HCPC professional UK registration.
  • Physiotherapy Degree.
  • Desirable
  • Post-graduate teaching qualification / evidence of teaching or supervision of others.
  • Working towards or evidence of postgraduate qualifications in specialist area.

Experience & Knowledge

  • Respiratory experience in an acute care setting including ITU, senior level managing and leading others.
  • Demonstrate specialist expertise underpinned by theory through CPD.
  • Excellent clinical reasoning / clinical decision-making skills.
  • Involvement in development of programmes of care, protocols and guidelines.
  • Knowledge of Clinical risk management and Governance.

Essential Communication & Management

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills demonstrating negotiation and persuasion skills.
  • Ability to manage demanding and challenging workload.
  • Ability to handle sensitive situations with tact and diplomacy.
