The Sixth Form College is responsible for the delivery of A Level, AS, GCSE and BTEC Science courses and is based at the Uxbridge site. We have a track record of achieving strong results which places the Sixth Form in the top 10% of colleges nationally for A level progress.

We are looking for a knowledgeable and dedicated full time Lecturer of Physics to teach A level, BTEC and GCSE Physics. You will possess a degree in Physics or a closely related subject (e.g. Engineering), and have teaching experience in Physics including delivery of A level, with a track record of excellent teaching and learning. You should have good communication and interpersonal skills and be able to engage and inspire young people aged 16-19. If you do not already possess a teaching qualification, the College will support you to obtain the Level 5 teaching qualification.

Main Purpose of the Role:

The main purpose of the job is to ensure the retention and achievement of students through the delivery of good practice in teaching and learning. The Lecturer will teach, develop and improve programmes of study in subjects and courses relevant to the post-holder’s knowledge, qualifications and experience.

Qualifications:

  • A degree in Physics or closely related subject (e.g. Engineering)
  • Level 2 in English and Maths (GCSE Grade C/4 or equivalent), or willing to achieve
  • Minimum level 5 teaching qualification recognised by the FE sector (e.g. PGCE, DET**) or willingness and ability to obtain qualification, supported by the College

Knowledge and Experience:

  • Experience of teaching Physics up to Level 3 including delivery of A level Physics
  • Ability to teach a second subject up to GCSE (preferably maths)
  • Good communication skills, written and verbal
  • Ability to demonstrate excellent teaching and learning which evidences the raising and/or maintaining of student achievement and progress
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Good classroom practice
  • Ability to use IT / e-learning and online teaching, learning and assessment
  • Good administration/organisational skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Commitment to continuing professional development
  • Understanding of the importance of Equality and Diversity and Safeguarding in education
