We are seeking a qualified, enthusiastic, and motivated Speech and Language Therapist to join our growing school & college team. You would be joining a well-established and friendly speech and language team where CPD opportunities are provided and encouraged. We can offer opportunities for professional development and career growth within the expanding trust. Regular supervision would be provided by a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist. Free parking and lunch provided.

The speech and language team works closely with teaching staff and other professionals to support the speech, language, and communication needs of the children across the school and college. Our aim is for all children to have a form of communication that works for them, that enables them to access the curriculum and that is functional so that they can use it outside of school and college. To do this you would be expected to manage your own caseload, assess children across the school and to then use the evidence base, your knowledge and experience to plan the level of therapy. You would also be expected to carry out training sessions for teachers, teaching assistants and parents/carers when needed.

This is a fantastic opportunity to develop specialist clinical skills supporting children with a range of communication difficulties from the age of 4-18 years. We are looking for a therapist who enjoys being part of a hard-working team, and who is productive, creative and has a positive attitude. This role would suit newly qualified therapists as well as therapists who have experience of working with children with Autism and learning difficulties. Salary would reflect that experience. Part-time and job share would be considered.

Main Duties of the job
  • Assess pupils’ speech, language and communication needs.
  • Deliver and monitor appropriate speech and language therapy programmes to support education and learning.
  • Maintain appropriate records of pupils’ progress using the SOAP format in accordance with the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists.
  • Manage and prioritise own caseload.
  • Liaise with teachers, parents and carers with regards to speech, language and communication issues and set joint targets.
  • Work co-operatively within the school Multidisciplinary team.
  • Produce timely Speech and Language Therapy Reports documenting pupils’ progress and set new targets for Annual Review paperwork and EHCPs.
  • Attendance at school meetings as appropriate including whole school meetings and annual review meetings.
