Based at our Harrow-on-the-Hill Campus, our Media Department delivers UAL Media courses, and is well equipped with facilities such as PC workrooms with professional/industry standard software (Adobe CC / Office 2016), dedicated Editing Suite (with Adobe Premiere editing software), devoted Studio space with Green-Screen and Photographyfacilities and various specialist Media hardware, such as Digital Cameras, Camera supports and Audio/Lighting kits.
The main responsibilities of this post include maintenance of all Media workrooms and hardware/equipment, facilitating our Media learners with their coursework by supporting them with their practical productions, ensuring that equipment is serviced and repaired where necessary and tracking equipment usage. You will also lead and facilitate workshops and timetabled sessions, assist teaching staff with extra technical support during teaching sessions and be involved with special events, such as Media EXPO (internal exhibitions), open days/evenings, taster sessions/days, end of project screenings, and end of term/year events.
You will possess a minimum of Level 4 qualification in Media or Creative related subject area (or significant media industry experience) and have good working knowledge and experience of the following:
- Experience in Adobe Premiere Pro & Adobe Express Editing Software, and some
experience or familiarity with Final Cut Pro or Avid or DaVinci Resolve - Experience in Editing software file management, including project setup, organising various file types, setup timelines, syncing audio, basic colour grading
- Good working knowledge of Mac OS X operating system
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair hardware and software faults to intermediate level
MAIN SCOPE OF POST
The main responsibilities of the post include maintenance of all Media workrooms and hardware/equipment, facilitating our Media learners with their coursework by supporting them with their practical productions, ensuring that equipment is serviced and repaired where necessary and tracking equipment usage, aiding staff with extra/technical support during teaching sessions.
DUTIES
- Lead workshops and timetabled sessions for students in digital video, interactive and audio production work.
- Manage all media equipment and advise and consult on purchase of new and emerging media technologies and media related resources, as required.
- Review, liaise and recommend changes as necessary to ensure efficiency and best practice within the Media department.
- Administer logging and tracking systems of equipment usage and return.
- Support and train staff and students in visual (image/video) and audio editing using variety of media hardware and software.
- Contribute and support the Science, ICT and Media Department to sustain the highest levels of Learner Achievement.
- Ensure that all equipment is maintained according to the Health and Safety Regulations and that equipment is in good working order.
- Conduct servicing and repair of equipment and to ensure that equipment that cannot be repaired on site is sent away for repair.
Qualifications:
- Relevant industry qualification at minimum of level 4 (e.g. Degree or HND Media or Creative related subject area) or significant media industry experience
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
- Experience in Adobe Premiere Pro & Adobe Express Editing Software including some experience or familiarity with Final Cut Pro or Avid or DaVinci Resolve
- Experience in Editing software – file management, project setup, organising various file types, setup timelines, syncing audio, basic colour grading
- Good working knowledge of Mac OS X operating system
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair hardware and software faults to intermediate level
- Ability to engage with young people and a willingness to lead and facilitate workshop sessions
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
