We are working with a small, highly regarded independent school in Balham to recruit a talented and committed Year 5 Teacher for a September 2026 start. This is a one-year position, with the option of a permanent contract for the right candidate.
This is a unique opportunity to teach a very small class of just 7 pupils, including one child with an EHCP supported by a dedicated 1:1. The school has a strong academic focus, and parents hold high expectations for pupil progress and attainment.
Key Responsibilities- Plan and deliver engaging, high-quality lessons for a Year 5 class
- Prepare pupils for 11+ and Year 7 entrance exams
- Differentiating effectively to meet individual learning needs, including EHCP support
- Foster a positive and ambitious learning environment
- Contribute to the wider school community
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Experience teaching in Upper Key Stage 2
- Strong understanding of 11+ / selective entrance exam preparation
- Interest or strength in Computing and/or English
- Ability to maintain high academic standards and expectations
- A proactive and flexible approach within a small school setting
- Independent school with small class sizes (Year 5 currently 7 pupils)
- Located on Balham High Road
- Working hours: 8:00am-5:00pm or 8:30am-5:30pm (no expectation to work outside these hours)
