A nurturing mainstream primary school in Camden is looking for a Primary Behaviour Mentor to work 1:1 or 1:2 with children of varying primary ages in their specialist SEMH unit. What You’ll Do – Primary Behaviour Mentor

  • Work directly with children in the SEMH unit, providing tailored 1:1 or 1:2 support throughout the school day.
  • Implement trauma-informed strategies to support emotional regulation, positive behaviour, and engagement in learning.
  • Set consistent boundaries and promote self-regulation in line with each child’s individual plan.
  • Collaborate closely with class teachers, the SENCo, and SEMH specialists to ensure a coordinated approach.
  • Foster a safe, structured, and nurturing environment where children can thrive.
  • Monitor progress, celebrate achievements, and adapt strategies to meet evolving needs.

Who We’re Looking For – Primary Behaviour Mentor

  • Experience supporting children with SEMH needs, including knowledge of behaviour management, attachment, or trauma-informed practice.
  • Calm, resilient, and positive, able to maintain consistency in challenging situations.
  • Skilled in de-escalation and building trusting, supportive relationships with children.
  • Relevant qualifications or strong academic background.
  • Enhanced DBS certificate on the update service (or willing to obtain one).
  • A genuine passion for making a real difference in children’s lives.
