A friendly and inclusive primary school in Bexley is looking to appoint two experienced Behaviour Mentors to join their specialist Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) Additionally Resourced Provision. This dedicated provision supports children with complex SEMH needs who benefit from a highly structured, nurturing, and consistent environment. These are permanent, full-time roles, ideal for individuals with proven experience supporting pupils displaying SEMH needs or challenging behaviour.

Role Overview:

In this role, you’ll be part of a skilled, supportive team focused on helping pupils with significant emotional, behavioural, and social needs. You’ll work one-to-one and in small groups to help students regulate emotions, re-engage positively with their learning, and develop constructive behavioural strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individual and group support to pupils with a variety of SEMH needs.
  • Build trusting, consistent relationships that foster security and engagement.
  • Implement behaviour management, de-escalation, and emotional regulation techniques.
  • Support tailored learning programmes and structured interventions.
  • Encourage emotional resilience, wellbeing, and academic participation.
  • Work collaboratively with the SEMH Lead and the wider inclusion team.
  • Ensure a calm, safe, and positive learning space at all times.

Person Specification:

  • Previous experience supporting pupils with SEMH or behavioural needs (essential).
  • Calm, confident, and resilient with a firm but nurturing approach.
  • Strong de-escalation and behaviour management abilities.
  • Experience working with primary-aged pupils preferred.
  • Reliable, dedicated, and passionate about supporting vulnerable learners.
  • Available for a full-time start as soon as possible.
