We are seeking a dynamic and committed Assistant Head of Department for Sports & Uniformed Protective Services to join our thriving team at our Cambridge and Huntingdon campuses.
About the role
As Assistant Head of Department, you will work closely with the Head of Department to provide high-quality leadership, curriculum guidance, and day-to-day support across our well-established Sports & Uniformed Services programmes:
- Sports Studies
- Cambridge United Scholarship Programme
- Uniformed Protective Services
Your goal? To help shape and maintain an outstanding learning environment where every student has the opportunity to thrive. You’ll play a vital part in ensuring academic success and personal development, supporting both staff and students to reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the leadership and development of the curriculum area, including effective management of staff and resources.
- Champion excellence in teaching, learning, and assessment across the department.
- Monitor and drive student progress through effective tracking and support systems.
- Inspire and support staff to achieve consistently high standards and positive student outcomes.
- Promote a culture of innovation, inclusion, and high performance within the department.
Qualifications and Skills
- A teaching qualification such as DET, DTLLS, Cert Ed, or PGCE.
- Extensive teaching experience in a Further Education setting.
- A strong understanding of the FE sector, with the ability to demonstrate relevant industry skills in sport or uniformed services.
- Up-to-date Health & Safety knowledge relevant to the curriculum.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proven organisational skills with the ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
