Lead the Group management accounting processes and oversee Group balance sheet controls in accordance with IFRS. Drive global alignment of overhead cost reporting across the Group and implement month-end close process improvements. Work with senior leaders to make process changes. Manage the month-end close timetable and ensure compliance across the Group.
Accountabilities:
- Supervise the delivery of accounting processes to ensure SAP-based accounting records for overhead costs and revenue are maintained completely, accurately, and in line with accounting standards and group policies.
- Drive global alignment of cost reporting across all territories to facilitate like-for-like comparisons and improve cost control. Collaborate with senior leaders to implement changes.
- Work with senior leaders in Finance and relevant business areas to ensure consistency of revenue reporting across territories. Communicate effectively and ensure accurate reflection in all reporting levels, including the monthly board pack.
- Produce and deliver analyses with explanations on financial transactions to aid understanding during month-end close.
- Manage the Group ownership report process, review all balance sheet items, ensure compliance across global teams, and drive process improvements.
- Maintain a robust controls environment for record-to-report accounting processes, ensuring compliance with group policies and accurate monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
- Manage the month-end close timetable, ensuring global team compliance.
- Review and monitor accounting records and entries for correct legal entity allocation, collaborating with the Financial Accounting team on local GAAP accounting and audits.
- Oversee foreign currency accounting to ensure compliance with group policies and correct currency rates.
- Manage audit data requests, provide necessary information, and foster a collaborative relationship with auditors to ensure efficient audits.
- Review and improve processes to enhance efficiency and reduce non-essential workload.
- Create a high-performance, motivated workforce aligned with delivery outcomes.
- Perform ad hoc tasks as assigned by the Director of External Reporting and Accounting.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:
- Professionally qualified accountant (ACA or ACCA) with significant post-qualification experience.
- Experience working directly with senior leaders and effective communication skills.
- Experience managing a medium/large team with strong leadership qualities.
- Experience in an SSC environment within a global business context.
- Ability to produce management accounts and withstand external audit scrutiny.
- Technical knowledge applicable to everyday issues.
- Detailed understanding of finance structures, both commercial and statutory.
- Sound judgment in accounting situations.
- High standards of accuracy, organization, and problem-solving skills.
