In this role you will provide pragmatic commercial legal counsel to Clarksons CPS Division, supporting offshore wind, oil gas, and marine logistics projects. You will work closely with senior leadership to enable complex, cross-border commercial solutions while managing risk across a broad portfolio. The role offers high visibility and the chance to influence strategic commercial decisions in a fast-paced, international environment. You’ll act as a trusted adviser to a growing business at the forefront of the sector, shaping contract terms and regulatory responses to drive value.
Responsibilities
- Negotiate, review and draft commercial contracts including customer and supplier terms, framework agreements and service schedules
- Develop and maintain standard contract templates with liability, insurance and risk considerations
- Manage contractual liability and commercial risk across projects
- Handle disputes and claims, including regulatory and negligence matters
- Address customs and regulatory issues affecting operations
- Oversee procurement, logistics contracts, subcontractor and partnership agreements (including MOU to contract conversions)
- Support acquisitions and corporate projects
- Manage property and lease matters
- Provide day-to-day legal support to international operations
- Perform ad hoc duties to meet business needs
Key requirements
- PQE 5-6 years
- Experienced in commercial contracts
- Experience in-house or private practice (both considered)
- Shipping, offshore energy, logistics or operational business experience advantageous but not essential
- Commercially minded and pragmatic
- Confident dealing with senior stakeholders
- Strong written and verbal communication; able to explain to non-lawyers
- Solutions-focused, decisive and independent in a fast-paced environment
- Proven ability to negotiate liability, indemnity and insurance positions in service contracts
