Overview
This position involves all aspects of athletic training within the framework of New York State Licensure, adhering to the Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics of the National Athletic Trainers Association. The Assistant Athletic Trainer will assist the Head Athletic Trainer in providing coverage for 20 intercollegiate teams and will be responsible for teaching a course at the Lewis School of Health Sciences.
Responsibilities include injury prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation, ensuring compliance with NCAA and HIPAA regulations. This is a ten-month, onsite, renewable position starting August 1st.
Responsibilities
- Teach a 3-credit course in the Lewis School of Health Sciences.
- Provide practice and game coverage, including travel and weekend/night work.
- Manage onsite care of injuries and illnesses, including prevention and rehab.
- Document patient encounters electronically and maintain reports.
- Coordinate with physicians and coaching staff regarding athlete injuries.
- Refer athletes to physicians as needed and review medical/insurance forms for participation criteria.
- Implement injury prevention and safety programs.
- Advise athletes, parents, and coaches on health and well-being matters.
- Assist with training room management and supplies.
- Supervise student trainers and assist in administrative duties.
- Assist with logistical tasks such as moving supplies and maintaining equipment.
Qualifications
Education: Master\’s Degree required; ability to teach courses in Anatomy, Modalities, Injury Evaluation, or Therapeutic Rehabilitation.
Experience: 1-3 years collegiate athletic training experience required; 2-4 years preferred. Must be BOC Certified and licensed in New York State. CPR and First Aid certification required.
